A solo bikepacking journey through the Marche, crossing the region from north to south through its quiet inland landscapes, and returning along the Adriatic coast. The route begins in the northern hills, winding through rolling countryside dotted with vineyards, farmhouses, and small medieval villages. It then enters the dramatic limestone canyon of the Gola del Furlo, where steep cliffs rise above a winding river, offering one of the most striking natural passages in the region. Continuing south, the itinerary reaches the spectacular Grotte di Frasassi, passing through the wild beauty of the Gola di Frasassi, surrounded by towering rock walls and dense greenery. The journey unfolds across peaceful rural landscapes—golden fields, olive groves, and endless hills—interspersed with historic borghi perched along ridgelines. Nights are spent camping under the stars, in quiet clearings or along the edges of farmland, embracing the simplicity of traveling alone. Further south, the route reaches the heart of the Monti Sibillini, where the terrain becomes more rugged and remote. Long climbs are rewarded with sweeping views and a strong sense of isolation. The return northward includes culturally rich towns such as Recanati, birthplace of Leopardi, before descending toward the coast and the vibrant city of Ancona. The final stretch follows the Adriatic shoreline, reaching the stunning white cliffs and turquoise waters of the Riviera del Conero. After days of inland exploration, arrival at the sea provides a fitting conclusion—accompanied by the sound of waves and the openness of the horizon. A ride defined by solitude, nature, and discovery, blending mountains, history, and sea into one continuous and memorable loop.
